Spielberg/Hanks Project To Stream On Apple TV+

'Masters Of The Air' Based On The Book By The Same Name

A new drama being produced by Steen Spielberg's Amblin Television and Tom Hanks and Gary Goetzman's Playtone will be presented on Apple's new Apple TV+ streaming Service.

CNN reports that "Masters of the Air", which is based on the book of the same name by Donald L. Miller, is the third part of a trilogy which included "Band of Brothers" and "The Pacific", both of which were carried by HBO. But HBO opted out of the project with no explanation other than to say it had considered the show "carefully".

The series will tell the story of the American Eight Air Force during WWII "who brought the war to Hitler's doorstep", according to a description of the book.

"Masters of the Air" is the first series to be greenlit by the streaming service in which Apple will serve as the studio, according to the report.

Apple TV+ launches November 1. The service will be available for $4.99 per month, according to Apple.
