Van’s Delivers First Fly-Away RV Aircraft

Sporty’s To Get One Soon For 2014 Sweepstakes

After forty years of supplying kits for amateur-built aircraft, Van’s Aircraft, Inc. stepped into a new world on May 31 when they delivered the very first certified, fly-away, ready-to-go Van’s airplane.

George Longino (pictured, left) arrived at Van’s Aurora, Oregon, facility and accepted the keys to his new Signature Series RV-12 S-LSA from company founder Dick VanGrunsven (pictured, right).  RV Transition Training instructor Mike Seager arrived that afternoon to provide the training included in the purchase price and help George get comfortable and proficient in his new airplane.  They successfully flew the airplane to its new home near Dallas, TX. 

At almost the same time, Sporty’s Pilot Shop announced that a Signature Series RV-12 will be their 2014 Sweepstakes airplane. On May 17, 2014, some lucky Sport’s customer will become the new owner of an RV-12, complete with two-axis autopilot, Dynon Skyview glass panel (including ADSB), custom interior, lighting and wheel fairings.

A total of twelve Signature Series airplanes have been completed or are under construction.  All have been sold and are expected to be delivered to their new owners before the end of the year.
