Classic Aero-TV: NASA's X-57 -- Lean, Green, Money Making Machines For Aviation!

From 2016: NASA Develops Electric Flight Technology for Industry to Use…

While at EAA AirVenture 2016, our ANN video crew checked in with NASA to find out what’s going on with their experiments into electric powered flight. They had the opportunity to interview Mark Moore and Sean Clarke, who are both NASA Principal Investigators for the Sceptor X-57 project. Just the name of this project sounds pretty exciting, and it is. The project centers on using electric propulsion for airplane flight, and the system being developed by NASA is referred to as ‘Distributive Electrical Propulsion.’ As you will see in the video, this means distributing multiple electric motors along the entire wingspan to provide increased aircraft efficiency.

Aero-News: Quote of the Day (12.01.20)

“Adapting a small number of our healthiest B-1s to carry hypersonic weapons is vital to bridge between the bomber force we have today, to the force of tomorrow. This is a major step forward in our global precision fires capability and it is important we pursue these technologies to remain ahead of our competitors. My goal is to have a limited number of B-1s modified to become the roving linebacker of the western Pacific and the North Atlantic. Source: Gen. Tim Ray, Air Force Global Strike Command commander, detailing info about the B-1B Lancer’s expanded carriage capabilities as the process comes one step closer to fruition following an external captive carry flight over the skies of Edwards Air Force Base, California, Nov. 20.
