Continental Motors Comments On ECi Cylinder AD

Says Company Was Incorrectly Named In AD As Manufacturer Of The Cylinders

Continental Motors Group issued a statement saying it was incorrectly named as the manufacturer of the cylinders referenced in the Federal Aviation Administration Airworthiness Directive, AD 2016-16-12. Continental Motors wishes to make it clear that the cylinders covered by this AD were not produced by Continental Motors Group or any of its affiliates.

In accordance with the AD, the affected cylinders (Danbury Aerospace ECi part number AEC631397) were produced by Danbury Aerospace under the Brand Name ECi from September of 2002 through June of 2009 (last cylinder produced that is affected by this AD was Serial Number 61176). CMG acquired the assets of Danbury Aerospace on July 17, 2015 and has never produced, sold or supported the cylinders referenced in this AD. Therefore, Continental Motors was never involved in the design, production, or distribution of the cylinders affected by this AD. After the acquisition of the assets of Danbury Aerospace, Continental Motors terminated the production of ECi style cylinders for Continental Motors engines, offering its customers genuine Continental Motors Cylinders from its Mobile factory.

Finally, there are no Continental Motors Group produced cylinders that are affected by this AD. Further, any Continental Motors produced cylinder may be used as an approved replacement for any cylinder affected by this AD.
