It All Comes Down To Two Pilots

The battle for the first world title in aerobatic air racing came down to the final two pilots Sunday at Stead Field in Reno (NV). Finding enough extra speed, American pilot Mike Mangold (Victorville, CA) eclipsed pre-race favorite, Kirby Chambliss (Flying Crown Ranch AZ), to win the first Red Bull Air Race World Series Championship.

More Than 50,000 Attend Point Mugu Air Show

Acts Include Golden Knights, Tumbling Bear

The NAS Point Mugu airshow was held on Saturday and Sunday. It was estimated that over 50,000 spectators attended during each day of the event. There was an impressive mixture of civilian and military aircraft on display as well as aerobatics, parachute jumps and aerial demonstrations including wing-walking. The U. S. Army was represented by the "Golden Knights" parachute team, the U. S. Navy had aerial demonstrations by an F/A-18 Hornet and E-2C Hawkeye while the U. S. Air Force put an F-15 Eagle through its paces and the California Air National Guard flew their C-130 Hercules for an approving crowd.

Enjoy the changing colors of "fall" over central Florida as hundreds of multi-color parachutes and canopies decorate the autumn skies during the National Skydiving League Competition "SkyQuest." Over 200 skydivers will "fall" more than 2000 times creating a cacophony of color over Fantasy of Flight during the 4th Annual SkyQuest, Friday, November 19th through Sunday, November 21st, 2004. The three day competition offers the chance to see skydivers from all over the world compete in aerobatics, Kaleidoscope Dives, Accuracy Challenges, and the famous Fantasy Swoop.
