NASA has handed over its X-37 demonstrator program to the
Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) in a project that
will apparently involve Burt Rutan's Scaled Composites.
A Venezuelan Air Force Mirage went down and exploded after
impact, Friday, just a few moments after the pilot detected an
engine flameout while the aircraft maneuvering at low altitude. The
pilot, Capt. Jesus Maria Bevilaqua, 35, ejected and was injured in
the accident.
Jack Bolt first made his mark on the aviation world as one of
Pappy Boyington's Black Sheep, downing six Japanese Zeros in the
Solomon Islands in 1943 and 1944. Then he knocked down six North
Korean MiGs during the Korean conflict, making him an ace in two
wars.
A team of Seabees departed Construction Battalion Center,
Gulfport (MI) at 0100 local, September 17th, for Pensacola (FL).
There, they were to establish a command center for disaster
recovery operations.
