It's a significant -- and needed -- advance for an aging
workhorse. Lockheed Martin announced Thursday it has won a $129.3
million contract to build a total of 13 new outer wing sets for the
US Navy's fleet of venerable P-3 Orion reconnaissance planes. The
all new production outer wings will be delivered to the Navy
beginning in early 2010 for installation on selected aircraft.
Stellar Lineup Coming To San Francisco October 9-14
Fleet week organizers announced this week the US Navy's Blue
Angels will be returning to the skies of San Francisco for the
event's 28th annual appearance, October 9-14, 2008. The weeklong
celebration is expected to attract an estimated one million
spectators along the San Francisco waterfront.
US Customs and Border Protection has deployed the Unmanned
Aircraft System (UAS) Predator B to support the response and
recovery efforts of Hurricane Gustav. CBP launched its Predator B
Tuesday morning to provide live streaming video to damage
assessment personnel.
