'Jules Verne' Transport Craft Undocks From ISS

Follows Highly Successful First Mission For ATV

At the end of a flawless six-month mission Europe's first Automated Transfer Vehicle "Jules Verne" undocked from the International Space Station Monday at 23:29 hours CEST. The ATV has now embarked on the last leg of its journey in space, which will end with a controlled destructive re-entry into the Earth's atmosphere on September 29.

Says Erroneous Online Report To Blame

ANN REALTIME REPORTING 09.08.08 1530 EDT: The reposting of a six-year-old news report was to blame Monday for panic among investors in UAL Corp., parent company of United Airlines... who dumped their shares in the troubled carrier, believing UAL had filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy for the second time in six years.

Zenith Aircraft Company's 17th annual OPEN HANGAR DAY and Fly-In Gathering is scheduled for Saturday, September 20, 2008 (with some seminars starting Friday, the 19th), at the factory located at Mexico Memorial Airport in Mexico, Missouri. Aviation enthusiasts, especially builders and owners of Zenith Aircraft kit planes, are invited to drive or fly-in for the day.

The "Royal Maces" of Strike Fighter Squadron (VFA) 27 celebrated their 32nd change of command Sept. 1. Cmdr. Gordon Cross relieved Cmdr. Gregory Huffman in the ceremony held aboard USS George Washington (CVN 73). Huffman served as commanding officer of the Royal Maces since August 2007. Prior to assuming command, he served as executive officer of the squadron.

NASA's Aeronautics Research Mission Directorate will accept scholarship applications from Sept. 5, 2008, through Jan. 16, 2009, for the academic year beginning in fall 2009. NASA expects to award 20 undergraduate and five graduate scholarships to students in aeronautics or related fields.
