Dream Flights Honor Vets Through September

WWII Vets Take Flight in The Era’s Biplanes

Dream Flights is honoring WWII veterans during the month of September by taking them in the air and sharing their stories with younger generations. Quentin Bendtsen served in both the Army and the Navy during WWII and was able to take his dream flight from Crystal Airport in a restored WWII biplane. Bendtsen is 93 years old. Volunteer pilot Tim Dick says it's not just exhilarating for the veterans. “We have a rear view mirror up in front of them, so I can see their face in the mirror because I sit behind them when we fly. Competition Narrows From 218 to 35

Jaunt Air Mobility has been selected to compete in the AFWERX High Speed Vertical Takeoff and Land Concept Challenge, which has been narrowed down from 218 competitors to 35. The HSVTOL Concept Challenge is partnered with the US Air Force and US Special Operations Command. The MAV55 Multi-Mission Air Vehicle brings the speed and capabilities of a fixed-wing aircraft combined with Jaunt’s patented slowed rotor compound technology. The Challenge serves as a way for the USAF and USSOCOM to explore new concepts and innovative technologies.

NTSB Prelim: North American T-6G

Ground Scars And Wreckage Were Consistent With A Steep Angle Through Trees Before Impact

On August 4, 2021, about 1520 central daylight time, a North American T6G airplane, N7197C, was destroyed when it was involved in an accident near Starkville, Mississippi. The pilot and passenger were fatally injured. The airplane was operated as a Title 14 Code of Federal Regulations Part 91 personal flight. The airplane was not equipped with an ADS-B transponder; however, a preliminary review of air traffic control (ATC) radar track data revealed that the airplane departed runway 36 at McCharen Field Airport (M83), West Point, Mississippi, and continued toward the south-southwest where it made a series of maneuvers near the accident site.
