Navy Announces Initial Aviation Warrant Officer Selection Board

Those Selected For The Program Will First Complete Officer Candidate School In Newport, Rhode Island

A new era in Naval Aviation launches on Aug. 2 when a board will meet to select the initial cadre of Aviation Warrant Officers who will be trained to fly the new MQ-25 carrier-based unmanned aerial vehicle. The call for applications, announced in NAVADMIN 141/21 and released on June 28, says that qualified Sailors and civilians can apply for the program through Navy Recruiting Command. Applications to be considered by the board are due on July 26. Last December, the program’s approval came when the Navy formally established the Aerial Vehicle Operator (AVO) warrant officer specialty in NAVADMIN 315/20.

319th Reconnaissance Wing to Field E-11 Mission at Robins AFB

The Air Force Already Possesses Three E-11s

The Air Force announced plans recently that the 319th Reconnaissance Wing at Grand Forks Air Force Base will now provide command and control support for the Air Force’s E-11 Battlefield Airborne Control Node aircraft mission. Under the proposed plan, which is contingent on Congressional approval of the retirement of four E-8 JSTARS at Robins AFB, Georgia, an E-11 squadron at Robins AFB would be a geographically separated unit reporting to the 319th RW.
