Marines, UK Forces Prepare For Joint Exercise Off Eastern
US
Ahead of a US-led Joint Task Force Exercise (JTFX) on the
Eastern seaboard of the United States, the HMS Illustrious
welcomed the very first embarkation of a US Marine Corps
Bell/Boeing MV-22 Osprey onto the Royal Navy aircraft carrier
Wednesday. It is the first time an Osprey has landed on a non-US
vessel.
The Eurofighter Typhoon, the Royal Air Force's newest and most
capable jet aircraft, is now on readiness to respond to any
aircraft acting suspiciously or intruding illegally into UK
airspace.

The co-pilot and only surviving crew member of a December 2006
Black Hawk helicopter accident told an Australian military inquiry
board not only did he believe a Global Positioning System error
cause the accident, but he also thought the aircraft would 'bounce'
back from a firm landing.
