U.S. Customs And Border Protection Receives Seventh Upgraded P-3 Orion

Mid-Life Upgrade Completed Adding 20 Years To Airplane's Life

Lockheed Martin has delivered a P-3 Orion with new Mid-Life Upgrade (MLU) modifications to U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP). This is the seventh CBP P-3 the team has delivered from its facility in Greenville, SC, since July 2010. "This delivery continues to underscore our unique modification, maintenance, repair and overhaul capability to deliver on our commitments," said Ray Burick, Lockheed Martin vice president for Modification, Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MMRO) Greenville Site and Field Team Operations.

Aircraft Was Conducting A Training Exercise

The U.S. Navy has issued an official release confirming that all three crew members aboard a Navy EA-6B Prowler jet assigned to Electronic Attack Squadron 129 (VAQ-129) at Naval Air Station Whidbey Island, WA, were fatally injured when the aircraft went down Monday morning in an unpopulated area approximately 50 miles west of Spokane, WA.

Calls For Second Reversal Of Award To Embraer For Light Air Support Aircraft

Citing what it says is a threat to 1,400 U.S. jobs, the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers has called for a reversal of the recent U.S. Air Force contract favoring Brazilian-based Embraer over Wichita, KS-based Beechcraft Corp.
