27 Honored As Base Opens Gates For Grieving Families, Friends

"I just want to tell the families I love these guys. They're a part of me." That's how USMC Lance Corporal Buck Gates described his effort to memorialize the men killed aboard at USMC CH-53 that went down in Iraq over the weekend. In all, 27 of the 28 people aboard the Sea Stallion were from his base in Hawaii. Forty-four years after the island state itself was struck by a Japanese sneak attack, families and friends of those who died aboard the Sea Stallion paid their respects to those killed in the weekend downing of the Marine helicopter.
