Congress Notified Of Possible F-35 Sale To Belgium

Deal Estimated At $6.53 Billion

The State Department has made a determination approving a possible Foreign Military Sale to Belgium of thirty-four F-35 Joint Strike Fighter Conventional Take Off and Landing aircraft for an estimated cost of $6.53 billion. The Defense Security Cooperation Agency delivered the required certification notifying Congress of this possible sale Tuesday.

GAO: DOD Lagging In ADS-B Implementation

Has Fully Acted On Only Two Of Eight Recommendations To Address Security Risks

Since 2008, the Department of Defense (DOD) and the FAA have identified a variety of risks related to ADS-B Out technology that could adversely affect DOD security and missions. However, they have not approved any solutions to address these risks. Compared with other tracking technology, ADS-B Out provides more information, such as an aircraft's precise location, velocity, and airframe dimensions, and better enables real-time and historical flight tracking.
