Lockheed Martin announced Tuesday the government has awarded the
Bethesda, MD-based company a nearly $100 million contract for
long-lead tasks related to the production of 30 new Advanced Block
52+ aircraft for Greece.
The US Air Force's RQ-4 Global Hawk unmanned aerial
reconnaissance system recently passed the 5,000 combat flight-hours
mark while on a mission supporting the global war on terrorism,
according to the aircrafts' manufacturer, Northrop Grumman.
Coalition aircraft flew 50 close-air-support missions Jan. 1 for
Operation Iraqi Freedom. These missions included support to
coalition troops, infrastructure protection, reconstruction
activities, and operations to deter and disrupt terrorist
activities.
