Digital Sectional said Thursday it is committed to
interoperability with Aspen Avionics’ Connected Panel.
Digital Sectional EFB, a preflight and inflight situational
awareness tool for the iPad and iPhone, will include full support
for interfacing with Connected Panel when it becomes available.
Close Vote, But Flight Crew Licensing Changes Pass
IAOPA is reporting in its newsletter that the European
Parliament has approved EASA-FCL (Flight Crew Licensing) 22-16
despite a last-minute attempt to have it sent back to EASA for
redrafting because of unresolved issues surrounding third-country
licences. IAOPA says the vote was something of a surprise, as
Parliament's Transport Committee chairman Brian Simpson and his
socialist group voted in EASA's favour.
Enables iPad To Tune Radios, Submit Flight Plans To Panel
Aspen Avionics and ForeFlight announced Wednesday that
ForeFlight Mobile 4.1 currently includes support for Aspen’s
Connected Panel technology, which is scheduled for release by the
end of the year. Users will be able to wirelessly tune radios and
submit and retrieve flight plans utilizing the Aspen Connected
Panel communication network.
Dollars Allocated To Improve Safety, Facilities At 18
Airports
Pennsylvania Governor Tom Corbett on Thursday announced a $4
million state investment that will upgrade facilities and improve
safety at 18 Pennsylvania airports. "Aviation provides nearly 5
percent of Pennsylvania's jobs," Governor Corbett said. "Investing
in these improvements and safety measures helps those thousands of
people do their jobs better, and will improve airport
operations."
