Liberty U Offers New Aviation Bachelor's, Master's Degrees

Many Major Commercial And Cargo Airlines Require Pilots To Have A Four-Year Degree

Liberty University School of Aeronautics (LUSOA) has added two degrees to its growing academic offerings — a Master of Science (M.S.) in Aeronautics and a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Aviation Management. Both programs will be offered beginning this fall and are available through Liberty University Online Programs. Dr. Julie Speakes, online dean, said the new M.S. program offers four specializations: safety, education, leadership, and a general track.

Vermont CAP Wing Offers 2020 Cadet Glider Orientation Flights

Cadets Received A Hands-On Lesson

The Vermont Wing of the CAP took advantage of the good flying weather in central Vermont recently, launching several Cadets on their first glider orientation flights. Every CAP cadet under age 18 is eligible for five flights in a powered aircraft (usually one of the Wing’s Cessna 172s or 182), five flights in a glider aircraft, and an unlimited number of backseat flights when conditions allow. Orientation flights are always free to cadets.

NPRM Would Place “Burdensome And Costly Requirements On General Aviation, With Little To No Safety Benefit”

Aviation organizations, including the NBAA, sent a letter to FAA Boss Steve Dickson expressing their “serious concerns” with the agency’s proposed rulemaking regarding the Pilots Records Database (PRD). NBAA President and CEO Ed Bolen voiced support of the collective statment for the PRD’s high-level intent to improve aviation safety by allowing commercial air carriers to access a pilot’s records and other pertinent FAA information prior to making a hiring decision.

Aeromedical, Legal Advisory Councils Work Virtually

The Aeromedical Advisory Council Welcomed A New Member

Despite the inability to hold annual in-person meetings during AirVenture this year, the EAA Aeromedical and Legal Advisory Councils met virtually to catch up and discuss policy issues facing EAA members. The Aeromedical Advisory Council welcomed a new member, Rolando "Roy" Diaz, Jr, M.D., of Odessa, Texas. Dr. Diaz is an avid pilot, AME, and EAA member, and is a welcome addition to the council as it looks to the future.
