A Foot In The Door -- 25 Years After We Proposed The Need For A Pilot's Bill Of Rights... We Have One

US Sen. Jim Inhofe (R-OK.), a member of the Senate General Aviation Caucus and certified flight instructor with more than 10,000 flight hours, today announced that his Pilot's Bill of Rights (S.1335) has been officially signed into law. Inhofe has worked to pass the legislation for the past year. In the Senate where the bill enjoyed co-sponsorship by 65 other Senators, the measure passed by unanimous consent in June.  The House passed the measure by a voice vote.

Pilot Aborted A Previous Attempt Due To Engine Problems

The decision to abort a takeoff should be one of the easiest things to do in all of aviation... i.e., the minute something seems wrong or improper, its time to stop the takeoff (if you can) and figure out the source of concern. Unfortunately; in the case of a recent fatal accident, the pilot did not take the time to go back to the hangar to see why an engine acted improperly and, instead, decided to try the takeoff a second time... with disastrous result.
