A house in Palm Coast, FL, that was severely damaged when it was struck by an airplane has finally been demolished four months after the accident occurred.

As the busy summer flying season approaches, FAA Administrator Michael Huerta met Tuesday with leaders from the general aviation community to agree on actions to enhance safety and reduce accidents. The general aviation fatal accident rate has remained flat over the past five years and 149 fatal accidents already have occurred so far this fiscal year, killing 262 people.

GAMA has announced the winners of two prestigious scholarships awarded annually to students who have excelled in or are pursuing aviation studies. Nicholas Funkhouser of Jackson High School in Jackson, Michigan, has received the Edward W. Stimpson “Aviation Excellence” Award, given to a graduating high school senior who has been accepted and will be enrolled in aviation degree core program at his or her chosen university or college.
