'Eagle Initiative' Aims for Mass Availability of Lead-Free Avgas by 2030

The industry consensus around the continued use of 100 low-lead avfuel has grown increasingly impatient in recent years. The awkwardly-named but aptly shortened Eliminate Aviation Gasoline Lead Emissions - or EAGLE initiative, will "expand and accelerate the actions and policies necessary for a viable high-octane unleaded replacement for the current 100 octane low-lead aviation gasoline (100LL), without compromising the existing U.S. transportation infrastructure system, aviation safety, and the economic and broader public benefits of general aviation."

Those looking to achieve their flight instructor certificate have a new option to complete the teaching-oriented portion of their program, with the improved and updated Fundamentals of Instruction Course available through the King Schools site. As the school notes, the FAA's Aviation Instructor's Handbook is a somewhat abstract portion to tackle after so many lessons on aviation, coming out of left field for the fledgling instructor with a bevy of psychological, academic, and instructional terms that can prove to be a stumbling block for more practical-minded pilots.

Flaps Were Up, But The Airplane Continued To Climb About 300 Ft Per Minute

On January 31, 2022, about 1256 central standard time, a Cirrus SR22 airplane, N227BD, was destroyed when it was involved in an accident near Hutchinson, Minnesota. The flight instructor was seriously injured, and the pilot was fatally injured. The airplane was operated as a Title 14 Code of Federal Regulations Part 91 instructional flight. The flight instructor reported that the purpose of the flight was to familiarize the pilot with the newly purchased airplane. After practicing maneuvers, they proceeded to the Hutchinson Municipal Airport – Butler Field (HCD) to practice a touch-and-go landing. The airplane touched down onto the runway and bounced.
