Carriers Take a Hard Look at Whether Russian Integration is Appropriate

In a tit for tat move for the British ban on Russian-owned aircraft in their airspace, the country's civil aviation regulator, Rosaviatsia, has returned the favor by barring UK-operated aircraft from Russian airspace. The Russian restriction was said to be the result of "unfriendly decisions by the UK aviation authorities," that "restricted regular flights of aircraft owned, leased or operated by a person associated with, or registered in Russia." It should be noted that Russia is only expected to impose bans on foreign operators should they receive one first, as no spontaneous sanctions have even been floated by their regulators in passing.

Emirates President Frustrated with 777X Delays

Says "Boeing Really Needs to Get Their Act Together" After 8-Year Backorder

Dubai's Emirates has joined with fellow Boeing waitlisters in debating their retention of order slots for the 777X if delays continue. The airline's president, Tim Clark, has hinted that the 8-year-old order of 115 777-9Xs are looking less attractive by the day as their delivery is pushed out far beyond any initial expectations. In an interview with an airline trade publication, he said "We don’t want to cancel the 787s or the 777-9s, we want the airplanes. What is going to happen when the A380 goes otherwise, what am I left with? But we want the aircraft in the shape that the contract requires."

CEO's Fireside Chat Promising, Combined Airline Expected to Offer "Mainline Carrier" Treatment to Pilots

Frontier Master Executive Council (MEC) chair Capt. Alan Christie and Spirit MEC chair Capt. Ryan Muller of the Air Line Pilots Association, Int’l (ALPA) released the following statement in response to their respective chief executive officers’ comments today at the 2022 Barclays Industrial Select Conference. The Air Line Pilots Association has commented on the proposed merger mentioned by the CEOs of Frontier and Spirit Airlines, affirming the group's stance that the resulting pilot contract should reflect the increased size of the combined company, looking more like a mainline carrier contract than a regional one.
