Piper Archer Down In The English Channel

Prominent U.K. Businessman Fatally Injured, Wife Survives

A rented Piper Archer flown by U.K. businessman Ian Dickinson went down in the English Channel Saturday, resulting in the fatal injury of the 79-year-old pilot. Dickinson's wife Ann-Marie reportedly attempted to pull him from the sinking airplane, but was unsuccessful. She was picked up by a passing Russian cargo ship, and treated for exposure and hypothermia.

Frank Robinson's Innovative Chopper Revitalized An Industry

Yes... GA and BizAv is in really rough shape... but one of the truly monumental American aviation success stories revolves solely around the little helicopter that could -- and keeps doing so -- through some 10000 iterations thus far. On the 10th of November, Robinson Helicopter delivered R44 S/N 13217, the company’s 10,000th helicopter to come off its production line. A celebration was held at the Torrance factory. Company employees along with representatives from the city, the FAA and many of Robinson’s vendors were in attendance.

GAMA Announces Leadership For 2012

Three New Members Added To The Association's Roster

The Board of Directors of GAMA has elected Caroline Daniels, chairman and CEO of ATP, as GAMA’s chairman for 2012. Daniels previously served as GAMA’s vice chairman of the board and as chairman of GAMA’s Safety Committee. Brad Mottier, vice president and general manager of Business and General Aviation at GE Aviation, has been selected as GAMA’s vice chairman. Mottier will also continue to serve as chairman of the Technical Policy Committee throughout the coming year.
