Aero-Terms!

An S-duct is a unique type of jet engine intake duct, used only on trijets. The S-duct is located in the tail, or empennage, of the aircraft. As well, the shape of the S-duct is distinctive and easily recognized.  The S-duct was invented as a solution for positioning the central engine on trijets.

Aero-News: Quote of the Day (02.07.09)

"I'm delighted Bombardier Learjet has selected NIAR as a key partner in the development of its new business jet. It's a tribute to the outstanding scientists, engineers and technicians at NIAR, who are among the best in the world."

Source: Wichita State University President Don Beggs. Bombardier Learjet announced Friday the school's National Institute for Aviation Research will conduct structural testing and certification for the new Learjet 85 midsize business jet.
