Following weeks of layoff announcements for aviation workers in
Wichita, KS, Friday brought some much-needed good news for a
change. Wichita State's National Institute for Aviation Research
will conduct structural testing and certification for the new
Learjet 85 midsize business jet.
Seeks To Match Aerospace Entrepreneurs, Venture
Capitalists
The University of Wisconsin Oshkosh's Council for Innovation is
bringing together innovators and venture capitalists for a two-day
event intended to help promote a culture of innovation in
northeastern Wisconsin. AeroInnovate, to be held on the UW Oshkosh
campus May 13-14, will allow innovators and entrepreneurs in the
aerospace industry to network and pitch their products and services
to individuals looking to invest in such ventures.
Engineers from NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory and students at
the California Institute of Technology have designed and tested a
versatile, low-mass robot that can rappel off cliffs, travel nimbly
over steep and rocky terrain, and explore deep craters.
