Textron Completes Acquisition Of Beechcraft

Integrates Cessna, Beechcraft And Hawker Aircraft Brands Into New “Textron Aviation” Business Segment

The deed is finally done, and for now, the Cessna, Beechcraft, and Hawker names will continue to live on ... under the Textron umbrella. Textron has announced that it has closed its acquisition of Beech Holdings, LLC, the parent of Beechcraft Corporation, and that it will bring together its Cessna business and Beechcraft to form a new segment called Textron Aviation. Cessna and Beechcraft together produced about $4.6 billion in revenues during 2013.

An Operations & Flight Line Maintenance Course offered by ICG (International Communications Group, Inc.) for its NxtLink ICS-120A/220A satellite communications devices has been approved by the FAA for Inspection Authorization (IA) Renewal Training. The 14-hour course will allow authorized inspectors to use 8 hours toward renewing his or her accreditation.

Two UAVs Put To The Test In South Texas

Texas A&M FAA Test Site Prepares For Operation

Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi continued its preparations to be fully operational as one of only six federal test sites for unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) with another series of test flight missions this week over South Texas ranchland. Researchers have been conducting missions twice a day with the University’s RS-16 unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV), and another UAV owned by American Aerospace Advisors. Comlux America, the Indianapolis, IN-based completion and service center of the Comlux Group, has launched a new Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) project on the Bombardier Challenger CL-600 series. The STC project installs and certifies the equipment required for operation in airspace requiring Cockpit/Pilot Data Link Communications (CPDLC). The system incorporates equipment from Universal Avionics Systems Corporation (UASC), International Communications Group (ICG), and L-3 Aviation Recorders.

New Options Available For The Transponder Test Set

Aeroflex has released a new option to the IFR6000 transponder test set. The new IFR6000 UAT Option 5 allows for easy, user friendly installation support and verification of ADS-B/TIS-B and FIS-B information over 978 MHz frequency for aircraft flying below 18,000 feet.
