Process Could Allow Satellites To Be Replenished In Orbit

NASA has successfully concluded a remotely controlled test of new technologies that would empower future space robots to transfer hazardous oxidizer – a type of propellant – into the tanks of satellites currently in orbit. Concurrently on the ground, NASA is incorporating results from this test and the Robotic Refueling Mission on the International Space Station to prepare for an upcoming ground-based test of a full-sized robotic servicer system that will perform tasks on a mock satellite client.

Boeing, Bermuda To Study Airspace Modernization

Goal Is To Accelerate Bermuda Airspace Modernization And Optimization, Implementation Of Performance Based Navigation Procedures

Boeing and the Bermuda Department of Airport Operations (DAO) have agreed to study the modernization of airspace and air traffic management in Bermuda. Engineers from Boeing Digital Aviation, a business unit of Commercial Aviation Services, will work with DAO to identify the steps required to develop a fully optimized air traffic management system for Bermuda, including an increase in the country’s ability to handle arriving and departing traffic.

TransPac Aviation Academy, which says it graduates some 400 students annually, this week announced the graduation of 29 students. Hainan Airlines and West Air 2 Airlines are supporting the students. iPad Function Streamlines Helicopter Performance Calculations

Sikorsky Aircraft has launched the company’s first iPad flight calculator application for Sikorsky’s commercial S-92 helicopter platform. Known as iFly Sikorsky, the application replicates common performance calculations described in the S-92 Rotorcraft Flight Manual (RFM). A similar application for the S-76 aircraft fleet is currently in development.
