The two pilots who said they were distracted by their laptop
computers and a discussion over airline scheduling will not be
returning to a Delta cockpit, the airline said Tuesday.
A second production rate increase for the Next-Generation Boeing
737 program was announced by the Washington state aircraft
manufacturer Tuesday, taking the rate from the previously announced
34 airplanes per month to 35 in early 2012.
A contentious labor action, grounding hundreds of flights and
thousands of flyers may soon be over. Communications from Spirit
asserts that that the airline and its pilots have "reached a
tentative agreement on a new contract. The contract, which was
unanimously recommended by the union’s leadership, is subject
to ratification by the pilot membership which is planned for
July."
USAPA Members Walking Picket Lines With Spirit Crews
The US Airline Pilots Association (USAPA), representing the
pilots of US Airways, said on Tuesday it fully supports Spirit
Airlines’ pilots, who initiated a strike this weekend over
what the union said are sub-par pay and working conditions.
