E-195 Type Certified In Brazil; EASA Approval Expected

They're celebrating at Embraer headquarters in São
José dos Campos this morning... as the company announced
Friday its 118-seat E-195 airliner -- Embraer's largest plane --
received its home market certification from Brazil's National Civil
Aviation Agency (ANAC).
Boeing announced Thursday that Central European low-cost carrier
SkyEurope Airlines has converted purchase rights for five
Next-Generation 737-700s into orders, in a deal valued at $295
million list.
Transportation Security Administration Chief Kip Hawley says
it's a case of not seeing the forest through the trees: that
screeners are spending so much time looking for recently-prohibited
cigarette lighters in carry-on luggage... that they aren't devoting
enough time to search for actual bombs.
As part of the agency's attempt to cut costs, the Federal
Aviation Administration has temporarily halted transfers for many
controllers looking to make the move from smaller control
facilities to larger towers or TRACONs.
