Continental, Boeing and GE Aviation Announce Plans for Sustainable Biofuel Demo

First N American Carrier To Pursue Alternative Fuels Strategy 

Continental Airlines, Boeing and GE Aviation have told ANN of plans to conduct a biofuels demonstration flight in the first half of 2009 in an effort to identify sustainable fuel solutions for the aviation industry. Continental is the first major U.S. carrier to announce plans to highlight technological advancements in sustainable biofuels that can help to further reduce carbon emissions.

Rolls-Royce and US Airways Announce Engines and Services Business

Rolls-Royce has confirmed that US Airways has chosen Trent 700 engines to power up to 30 Airbus A330-200 twinjets. The value of the new business is approximately $2 billion and includes two long-term TotalCare services agreements for the Trent 700 and RB211 engine fleets. The A330 order comprises engines for 15 firm and up to 15 additional aircraft.
