Safety Agency Will Publish An NPRM Proposing Incorporation Into Its Basic Regulations

EASA says it welcomes progress made by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) Committee on Aviation Environmental Protection (CAEP) at their 9th Meeting February 4-15 in Montreal.  Agreement was reached within CAEP on a new aeroplane CO2 certification requirement, as well as a new global noise standard that will result in quieter skies and airports.

Grounded Dreamliners Costing Polish Airline

LOT Airline Says Losses Amount To $50,000 Per Day

Having its two Dreamliners sit idle on the ground is costing the struggling Polish state-run airline LOT some $50,000 per day, according to Deputy Treasury Minister Rafal Baniak. For the month they been grounded, the losses have added up to some $2.5 million.

Airlines for America (A4A) has named Mark Millam as Managing Director for Safety. Millam, who brings 30 years of experience in airline operations and safety, joins A4A from Compass Airlines, where he was director of safety and compliance and responsible for implementing the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Safety Management System (SMS) pilot program. Previously, Millam was the managing director of safety at Northwest Airlines during the Delta/Northwest integration, where he managed the safety alliance between Delta and its Delta Connection carriers.
