Flying into space is a tough business and we are sorry to say that after 18 successful flights of the SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket, the resupply flight headed for the International Space Station on Sunday morning exploded 139 seconds after liftoff. SpaceX' Elon Musk tweeted a short comment shortly after the failure, noting, "Falcon 9 experienced a problem shortly before first stage shutdown. Will provide more info as soon as we review the data." Aerojet Rocketdyne was recently awarded a contract from Lockheed Martin to deliver XR-5 Hall Effect and MR-510 Arcjet electric propulsion subsystems, as well as monopropellant rocket engines for the modernized A2100 satellite. The contract is for delivery of the flight propulsion subsystems aboard two modernized A2100 satellites that Arabsat recently ordered from Lockheed Martin.
