Remotely controlled aircraft designed by high school seniors took to the air for the first time in the culmination of a mentoring program sponsored by Northrop Grumman Corporation. The flight demonstrations, conducted during the last week of May, served as the "final exam" of a four-month curriculum in aircraft development to encourage students to consider careers in engineering.

Rare Opportunity To Capture Images From Double-Star System T Pyx

A flash of light from a stellar outburst has provided a rare look at the 3-D structure of material ejected by an erupting nova. Astronomers used NASA's Hubble Space Telescope to observe the light emitted by the close double-star system T Pyxidis, or T Pyx, a recurring nova, during its latest outburst in April 2011.
