Like many flyers, ANN's Jim Campbell, got his start in aviation via model airplanes... and that included an early membership in the first aviation organization he'd ever joined -- the Academy Of Model Aeronautics. So, it seemed natural that soomer or later he'd get a chance to "return to his roots" and see what the model aviation world was up to these days... and that story has to revolve, primarily, around the AMA.

A congressional effort to add another three shuttle flights to
the International Space Station before the projected 2010
retirement of the shuttle program was vehemently rejected by the
White House on June 10 stating the $2.9 Billion request was
"inconsistent with the administration's fiscal policies."
