AMA Drone Report 02.28.19: Drone Shooter Arrest, ID Marking, Oshkosh DroneShow

The insanity continues, folks... Suffolk County, NY Police have arrested a man for shooting a drone out of the air in Saint James Saturday. Members of Missing Angels-Long Island, an organization that searches for missing pets, were using a Mavic 2 Zoom drone to search for a missing dog when the drone they were using became unresponsive at approximately 4:45 p.m. The group used the drone’s GPS to determine the drone was last near 18 Rutherford St. in St. James. Following an investigation by Fourth Squad detectives, it was determined a resident of the home, Gerard Chasteen, fired three shotgun shots into the air from the yard of his home, striking the drone. Will Detect Radio Frequency Signals From Space

HawkEye 360 Inc. has successfully commissioned its three Pathfinder satellites and begun geolocating radio frequency (RF) signals. HawkEye 360 satellites fly in a commercially unique formation that independently pinpoints the geographical origin of a wide range of RF signals. Early test results have already demonstrated successful geolocation of VHF Channels 16 and 70, EPIRB, and AIS signals as well as identifying marine radar signals.
