ANN is aggrieved to report that former Sikorsky President Jeff Pino and his friend, Nicholas Tramontano, were reported killed last Friday in the crash of Pino's P-51 Mustang, named 'Big Beautiful Doll.' The airplane went down near Maricopa, Arizona. A massive presence in the military, civilian and business aviation community, the retired Sikorsky Boss was a good friend to ANN, a valued member of the 'Let Bob Fly,' inner circle and certainly one of the best amongst us. Named As New Inductees For The United States Astronaut Hall Of Fame

In recognition of their extraordinary accomplishments in furthering NASA's mission of exploration and discovery, veteran astronauts Brian Duffy (pictured, top) and Scott Parazynski (pictured, bottom) have been selected for induction into the elite United States Astronaut Hall of Fame. The announcement was made today at Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex by Dan Brandenstein, Hall of Fame astronaut and board chairman of the Astronaut Scholarship Foundation, which oversees the induction selection process.

ALMA And IRAM Telescopes Provide First Direct Temperature Readings Of Planet-Forming Disc

Astronomers have used the ALMA and IRAM telescopes to make the first direct measurement of the temperature of the large dust grains in the outer parts of a planet-forming disc around a young star. By applying a novel technique to observations of an object nicknamed the Flying Saucer they find that the grains are much colder than expected: −266 degrees Celsius. This surprising result suggests that models of these discs may need to be revised.

Spearheads Career Trip For Scholarship Recipient

Through its ongoing efforts to promote youth education and to be actively engaged in the mentorship of young minority men, LEAP, LLC, spearheaded its first personalized career field trip to the NASA Headquarters this past week in Washington, D.C. A previous recipient of a LEAP Foundation DC Scholarship and a member of the organization’s Student Ambassador Program, Kevin Thomas Akers was presented with the opportunity to visit the NASA Headquarters after expressing his interest in space to the Small Business Administration’s Washington Director, Mr. Antonio Doss.
