Concerns about the amount of voluntary compliance with a low-cost Service Bulletin affecting certain 520 and 550 series engines have caused Continental Aerospace Technologies to turn it into a Mandatory Service Bulletin, with Continental shouldering the costs for the actual required work. Continental is re-categorizing SB18-08A to an MSB MSB18-08B. This re-categorization is needed due to the low percentage of compliance. Boeing has delivered the core stage of NASA’s first Space Launch System (SLS) deep space exploration rocket, moving it out of the NASA Michoud Assembly Facility in New Orleans to the agency’s Pegasus barge. The event marks the first time a completed rocket stage has shipped out of Michoud since the end of the Apollo program. SLS Core Stage 1 is the largest single rocket stage ever built by NASA and its industry partners.
