The EAA told Aero-News Tuesday that two of the greatest
airplanes from the World War II era -- the Boeing B-29 and
Consolidated LB-30 (better known as the B-24 Liberator) -- will be
coming to EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2006.
Zaon Flight Systems announced Monday the release of their new
PCAS (Portable Collision Avoidance System) XRX, a small portable
traffic device which gives range, relative altitude and bearing of
up to three surrounding aircraft -- all from a package about the
size of an automotive radar detector.
The Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association (AOPA) announced
Monday the promotion of two of its members to newly-created
positions within the association. Karen Gebhart has been made
executive vice-president of non-dues revenue, and Andy Cebula has
been made executive vice president of government affairs.
Defective Batteries Could Short Out, Causing Smoke And
Flames
The FAA has issued a Safety Alert For Operators regarding the
risk of smoke and fires developing from shorted-out and overheated
batteries in some laptop computers. While the risk is small,
according to both the FAA and the computers' manufacturer, there is
no reason to take chances when talking of the possibility of fire
aboard an aircraft.
