The Arizona Pilots Association set forth in a communique that the entirety of Las Vegas, Nevada’s general aviation airports—Harry Reid International (LAS), Henderson Executive (HSH), and North Las Vegas (VGT)—will require all general aviation aircraft arriving during the time period spanning 14 through 20 November 2023 to secure reservations/prior permission and pay a $3,000 arrival fee. Pioneer Aerospace Corporation, d.b.a. ASR-Pioneer, has declared chapter 11 bankruptcy and is seeking to sell the company under Section 363 of the Bankruptcy Code. CAP Sets Flight-Time Record in Fiscal 2023

USAF Auxiliary Tops 100,000 Hours Aloft

The Civil Air Patrol set a new record for cadet orientation flight hours in fiscal 2023, with CAP pilots totaling 14,451-hours aloft with their young passengers—an increase of 19.5-percent over the 12,096-hour figure set in fiscal 2022. The previous high for orientation flight hours, set in fiscal 2018, was 14,101.  The record total helped CAP break the one-hundred-thousand-hour flight mark for the first time since 2017. Pilots logged 101,446 flying hours for all missions in fiscal 2023, up seven-percent over the previous year's total of 95,242.

Pioneer Aerospace, dba ASR-Pioneer, Enters Chapter 11 Bankruptcy

Parachute Company Was Formerly Known as Aviation Safety Resources

Pioneer Aerospace Corporation, d.b.a. ASR-Pioneer, has declared Chapter 11 bankruptcy and is seeking to sell the company under Section 363 of the Bankruptcy Code. The parachute manufacturer is a collection of companies, including Pioneer and Strong Parachutes, taken under the wing by former parent Aviation Safety Resources, when it was run by former Boss, Larry Williams... who was booted from the company last year and reportedly suing them for damages.

Originally developed as the Yuma by Alisport, an Italian aircraft manufacturer based in the Northern Italian city of Cremella, the Aquilae (ACK-will-lay) is a kit-built, STOL-capable, Light Sport Aircraft (LSA) distributed in the U.S. by Kent, Illinois-based North American Eagle. Aquilae is the Latin term for Eagle. As implied by its eligibility for certification as an LSA, the Aquilae’s maximum gross weight is 1,320-pounds. The aircraft is powered by a one-hundred-horsepower normally-aspirated, carbureted, four-cylinder, four-stroke, liquid-and-air-cooled, Rotax 912 ULS engine.

The A900 system from Alpha Unmanned Systems(AUS), acquired by the Dirección General de Armamento y Material (DGAM) for the Matacán Schools Group (GRUEMA), has successfully completed the process of obtaining its Certificate of Airworthiness for Experimentation (CAE). Subject certificate has been issued by the Deputy Directorate General of Inspection, Regulation, and Defense Industrial Strategy (INREID) and authorizes the Alpha Unmanned Systems’ A900 to be operated as an aircraft within the fleet of aircraft belonging to Spain’s Armed Forces.

NTSB Prelim: Beech A36

Airplane Landed On Runway 17 And Was Rolling Out When The Right Wing Struck The Grounds  Worker, Resulting In Fatal Injuries

On September 29, 2023, about 1415 central daylight time, a Beech A36 airplane, N9379Q, was involved in an accident while landing at the Broken Bow Airport (90F), near Broken Bow, Oklahoma. The pilot was not injured. An airport grounds worker was fatally injured. The airplane was operated as a Title 14 Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) Part 91 personal flight. According to initial reports, a grounds worker was mowing the grass along the west side of the runway 17 at 90F and was travelling toward the south. Polish Military Takes Delivery of AW149 Helicopters

Whispers of Trouble to Come

The land forces of the Eastern European nation of Poland have taken delivery of two Leonardo AW149 helicopters. The medium multi-role machines were handed over during a 30 October 2023 ceremony at the 25th Air Cavalry Brigade in Tomaszów Mazowiecki. The deliveries derive of a July 2022 contract that included logistics, training, and simulator packages. The logistics package includes stocks of spare and consumable parts and ground-handling equipment. The training and simulator package includes comprehensive training for AW149 pilots and technical personnel, and the delivery of a set of advanced simulators and associated training equipment.

Light Gun A handheld directional light signaling device which emits a brilliant narrow beam of white, green, or red light as selected by the tower controller. The color and type of light transmitted can be used to approve or disapprove anticipated pilot actions where radio communication is not available. The light gun is used for controlling traffic operating in the vicinity of the airport and on the airport movement area.

The same person attempted to coerce ANN into not reporting the story.
