Light plane manufacturer Robin Aircraft has been pushed into liquidation by way of French court order after the judges overseeing the firm’s troubled state declined the bids offered for the classic company. Owners and operators of Robin Aircraft and CAP10 planes won’t find themselves left out in the cold thanks to an arrangement with CEAPR, a local enterprise that has provided parts and support for the company’s work for years already. Selena Shilad Mourned for Dedication in Aviation

The Alliance for Aviation Across America regretfully announced the passing of their long-serving executive director Selena Shilad. Shilad had "served the Alliance with distinction since its inception in 2007, and ascended to the role of executive director within a year," said the Alliance release. Her passing was a shock to many in the industry given her age, only 45-years-old. Reportedly, a "brief illness" was the ultimate and surprising cause.

Surf Air Mobility to Electrify Entire Cessna Caravan Fleet

Regional Operator Hopes Operational Costs Halve After Conversion

Surf Air Mobility will embark on a campaign to convert its Cessna 208 Caravan fleet to all-electric power, working with Brazilian company Azul. The carrier says they can “take a meaningful step toward their goal of net-zero carbon emissions by 2045.” They believe they can achieve certification of a proprietary electrified powertrain some time in 2026, working with Azul to propagate emissions-free tech across the regional airline industry - or, in their terms, the “regional air mobility market”.

Successful Hot Fire Test Proves Design in Early Milestone for Next-Gen Rocket

Firefly Aerospace finished the first hot fire test for its Miranda engine, a design bound for the 1st stage of Northrop Grumman’s Antares 330 and Medium Launch Vehicle (MLV). Firefly was proud to note that the milestone came within a year of signing the first deal to co-develop the engine with Grumman. They said that the next test will see them design a "full-duration, 206-second Miranda hot fire" before achieving qualification. Once finished, 7 discrete Miranda engines will be installed in the first Antares stages to the tune of the better part of a quarter-million pound-feet of thrust.

Improved M30T Upgrades Fire Prevention Capabilities

TC Energy awarded the Fire Department of Norfolk, Nebraska to the tune of $20,000 for the purchase of a thermal drone and supporting equipment. The local fire chief said the Division uses a smaller, less capable UAV at the moment, spotting areas of excessive heat during ongoing structure fires or spotting incipient wildfires when out in the surrounding territories.

Russian Transport Minister Vitaly Savalyev let slip an interesting factoid regarding the effects of western sanctions on his home country, admitting that a considerable portion of the civilian passenger fleet had been repossessed by the owners abroad. Lessors detaining and repossessing their aircraft cut off as much as 40% of the Russian passenger fleet, or so estimates would say. Savalyev’s slip of the tongue confirmed that 76 aircraft were lost in such a manner throughout 2022, when foreign-owned aircraft operating for Russian airlines were detained in countries throughout their usual networks.

NTSB Prelim: Xtremeair GMBH XA42

Once In The Spin, The Rotation Stopped, Then The Airplane Entered A Secondary Spin And Descended To Ground Contact

On November 15, 2023, about 1040 central standard time, an Xtremeair GMBH XA42, N42XM, was substantially damaged when it was involved in an accident near Union City, Tennessee. The private pilot receiving instruction and a flight instructor were fatally injured. The airplane was operated as a Title 14 Code of Federal Regulations Part 91 instructional flight. The airplane was recently purchased by the private pilot and two other pilots.
