Airborne-Flight Training 07.08.21: LIFT Academy, Navy AWO, CAE Acquires

Leadership in Flight Training (LIFT) Academy will send LIFT graduates to Cape Air in a flow program to provide Cape Air with a pool of aviators to operate its daily passenger flights throughout their four regions in the Midwest, Montana, Caribbean and the Northeast. Upon completion of their flight training at LIFT Academy, graduates will transition to a First Officer role at Cape Air until they are qualified to upgrade to Captain status. As Cape Air pilots, they will build invaluable flight experience, prior to flowing to Republic Airways. B-29 Doc and WSU Tech Foundation Host 'Pull-A-Plane' Event Oct. 16

The Pull-A-Plane Event Is Family-Friendly And Open To The Public

Doc’s Friends and the WSU Tech Foundation will host a Pull a Plane event on Saturday, October 16 at the B-29 Doc Hangar, Education and Visitors Center at Eisenhower National Airport. Rescheduled from 2020, the unique event will feature teams of 25 people racing to pull Doc (a restored B-29 Superfortress, weighing in at nearly 80,000 pounds) 25 feet down the taxiway. The event will begin at 9 a.m. and will run throughout the day. Each team of 25 people will raise a minimum of $2,500 in order to participate. VHA Developing New H125/AS350 Tail Rotor Assemblies

VHA Engineers Expect An Increase In Performance And Decrease In Overall Noise Signature

Composite aftermarket rotor blade manufacturer Van Horn Aviation completed a ground run of its newly-developed tail rotor assembly for the Airbus Helicopters H125, previously known as the AS350. The new system features two individually-replaceable composite tail rotor blades attached to a VHA-designed titanium hub using self-lubricating spherical bearings. Since VHA’s H125/AS350 tail rotor blades use the same NASA-designed laminar airfoil as the company’s popular 206 series tail rotor blades, VHA engineers expect a similar increase in performance and decrease in overall noise signature compared to OEM blades.

Able Flight’s “Class of 2021” will be honored at a pilot wings pinning ceremony at EAA AirVenture on Tuesday, July 27th at 10:00 AM at Theater In The Woods. Six scholarship recipients earned their pilot certificates in the program this year, and all will be on stage to receive their pilot wings. This year’s pilots are T’angelo Magee, Michael Price, Peyton Wolter, David Snypes, Jr. and Sheila Xu. They include a veteran wounded in combat, two veterans who became disabled through accidents, a woman who is deaf, and two new pilots who use wheelchairs due to injuries from accidents.

Grants funded by the IADA Foundation will range from $1,000 to $5,000. Airplane Abruptly Banked 90° To The Right And Pitched Down In A Nose Low Attitude

On June 15, 2021, about 1045 Pacific daylight time, a Cirrus Design Corp. SR20 airplane, N98423, was substantially damaged when it was involved in an accident at the Truckee-Tahoe Airport (TRK), Truckee, California. The flight instructor was fatally injured, and the student pilot sustained serious injuries. The airplane was operated as a Title 14 Code of Federal Regulations Part 91 instructional flight.
