Gulfstream Revamps, Adds to Product Line

Gulfstream Family Now Has Seven Birds

Gulfstream Aerospace has introduced a broad new product line that "offers an exceptional combination of price, performance and value-added customer preferences in each segment of the business jet market."

The new product line, consisting of seven aircraft, will provide the opportunity for the company to compete aggressively and effectively in all segments of the business jet market from mid-cabin, high-speed to large-cabin, ultra-long-range. A new designation for Gulfstream aircraft was also announced in conjunction with the National Business Aviation Association (NBAA) convention being held in Orlando, Sept. 10-12.

"Gulfstream has steadily invested in re-engineering the company to achieve engineering, production, completion, service and maintenance efficiencies to position us to make this competitive move," said Bill Boisture, president, Gulfstream.

The new fleet now consists of the Gulfstream G550™, Gulfstream G500™, Gulfstream G400™, Gulfstream G300™, Gulfstream G200™, Gulfstream G150™ and Gulfstream G100™.

"In response to market trends and customer transportation needs, we will now offer seven different products," said Boisture. "The new fleet will offer our customers the flexibility to choose from different option packages such as multiple cabin layouts and different avionics packages and cockpit technology. Our high-end large-cabin, ultra-long-range aircraft, which is sold fully equipped, includes the Gulfstream Enhanced Vision System™ and an industry-exclusive 5-year Gulfstream Service and Training Package. The Gulfstream G300 and Gulfstream G500 enter two emerging market segments at value points that offer customers the ability to select option packages that meet their specific transportation needs."

The entire product line is backed by The World Standard™ in product support, which includes Gulfstream's industry-exclusive Airborne Product Support™ service.

"The Gulfstream G300 and the Gulfstream G500 are products that will address emerging market segments with an excellent combination of cabin size, performance and options that far outpace what the competition can offer," said Raynor Reavis, senior vice president, marketing and sales. "The G500 and the G300 will enter service ahead of the competition by one to two years, respectively. The G500 will compete directly with the Global 5000 and the Falcon 7X, and the G300 competes directly with the CL604 and the F2000EX."

"The G300, which will bring an exceptional value package, is an aggressive move by Gulfstream to reclaim the market segment originally developed by the company with the Gulfstream III. This new product will reintroduce Gulfstream quality, reliability, speed and cabin size to this market and we expect it to be very successful," added Reavis.

"Our engineering expertise, technical improvements, improved manufacturing processes,
cycle-time reduction, lean manufacturing, completions rollback efforts, and vendor relations and completions process improvements have prepared us to easily accommodate the production and completion of this new product line," said Joe Lombardo, chief operating officer. "The new Gulfstream fleet will continue to include all of the safety, quality, reliability, performance and comfort features for which Gulfstream aircraft are world-renowned."

The new product line will consist of products that range from 2,700 to 6,750 nautical miles and carry 6 to 18 passengers.

The first phase of production for the large-cabin, mid-range Gulfstream G300; large-cabin,
long-range G400; large-cabin, ultra-long-range G500; and the large-cabin, ultra-long-range G550 will be focused in Savannah. The final phase of the production will occur at company-owned operations in Savannah; Brunswick, Ga.; Appleton, Wis.; and Long Beach, Calif.

Gulfstream will continue to complete the final phase of manufacturing for the mid-cabin,
high-speed Gulfstream G100 and the large-cabin, mid-range Gulfstream G200 at its company-owned facilities in Dallas and Appleton. The wide-cabin, high-speed Gulfstream G150 is being designed, developed and certified in a joint effort between Israel Aircraft Industries (IAI) and Gulfstream.

The New Fleet Designation:

Gulfstream has developed a new designation system for its entire business jet fleet that allows for an easy-to-understand transition and for future planned product introductions. "This designation approach, which will not affect in-service aircraft nomenclature, will provide for easy understanding of the progression in cabin size, performance and value across the product line," Reavis said.

The World Standard Product Support:

Award-winning 24x7x52 service and product support backs the entire new Gulfstream fleet and is available at 10 strategically located sites throughout North America and at 16 sites worldwide.

Industry-exclusive Gulfstream Airborne Product Support™ is a value-added customer service offered to Gulfstream aircraft under warranty. In urgent circumstances, and usually when commercial transportation methods are unavailable or will take too long, a specially equipped G100 is dispatched with parts and technicians to customers at no charge.

The Gulfstream Parts Support™ team is integrated with Technical Operations for fast resolution of any technical questions that may arise. Customers can also order parts through a customer-only, secure Web site, myGulfstream.com. A $150 million spare parts inventory is deployed at 12 locations around the world to support customers in the timeliest fashion. In more than 99 percent of cases, the customer's spare part is in stock, ready for immediate shipment.

Through the GulfSave program, prices have been discounted on hundreds of the most commonly demanded parts. For larger, more complex assemblies, Gulfstream offers the option of ordering new or less expensive overhauled units.
