Illinois Ultralight & Light Sport Aviation Symposium Canceled

Pandemic Concerns Lead to 2nd Cancellation of Conference

The upcoming Ultralight and Light Sport Safety Symposium has been canceled, according to an official communique from its sponsoring body, the Illinois Ultralight Advisory Council. The organization has decided that ahead of a projected rise in COVID-19 cases, their safety-themed event would be better off postponed until the pandemic threat is sufficiently reduced. "With the continuing threat of COVID-19 cases, and the extra threat from the variants, we felt that it was prudent to cancel the event for safety reasons. Operations Will Continue as Normal, New Products Allegedly Incoming For AirVenture 2022

The light aircraft manufacturer based out of the world's aviation hub of Oshkosh, Wisconsin is under new ownership after the assets of both Sonex Aircraft and Sonex Aerospace were purchased by company man Mark Schaible. The two have been joined to form Sonex, LLC for the continued operation and support for kit aircraft and upcoming designs. The staff of Sonex have been retained, and the new ownership says that little change will be seen for current customers and outstanding orders. Products will ship as usual, parts will still be available, and development on projects in the works will continue just as they did under founder John Monnett’s tenure.
