RAF Surveillance Aircraft Clock Up 20,000 Flying Hours

Sentinel, Shadow Have Been Patrolling Over Afghanistan Since 2009

Surveillance aircraft based at RAF Waddington have notched up a collective total of 20,000 flying hours protecting British and other ISAF forces in Afghanistan. The high-tech, state-of-the-art Sentinel R1 aircraft of No 5 (Army Cooperation) Squadron and Shadow R1 aircraft of 14 Squadron have each clocked up 10,000 hours on Operation HERRICK.

Boeing Fatigue Test To Validate Predicted Life Of B-1 Bomber Fleet

USAF Hopes To Fly The Aircraft Until At Least 2050

A five-year testing program is underway on the  wing of a U.S. Air Force B-1 bomber to validate the predicted life of the bomber fleet, currently expected to be 2050. The testing is being carried out by Boeing. The test also will reveal potential areas of concern for which Boeing and the Air Force can develop maintenance and repair plans.

The Coast Guard rescued a member of the U.S. Army Parachute Team, the Golden Knights, after he missed the landing zone and ended up in Cleveland Harbor, off the coast of Cleveland Saturday morning.
