ASB Avionics Develops HF Shunt Antenna For P-3 Aircraft

Also Moves Forward On AFCS For The C-130

ASB Avionics (ASB), under contract with the NOAA, is developing a Dorsal HF Shunt Antenna for their WP-3 fleet. The P-3 HF Shunt Antenna builds on ASB’s history of HF Dorsal Antennas for L-382/C-130, KC-135, 707, 737, and 747 aircraft.

Predator Downed In Afghanistan

An Air Force MQ-1 Predator unmanned aircraft crashed in eastern Afghanistan Sept. 4th at approximately 8:45 p.m. Kabul time. The crash was not due to hostile fire. There were no reports of civilian injuries or damage to civilian property at the site.

Elmendorf Air Force Base officials started to blend a thermally stable additive known as Plus 100 to its JP-8 aviation fuel Sept. 1. The additive prevents coking and carbon buildup in the engine, which will greatly reduce engine maintenance.

Afghan C-27A Program Is Getting Off The Ground

Intensive Training Continues With Airplanes Expected Late This Month

Test pilots, engineers and ground crews from Alenia North America performed an initial test flight of the first of 20 programmed Afghan C-27A "Spartans" recently in Italy. The medium-sized tactical military transport remains on schedule for delivery to Naples in late September.
