Despite Boeing Legacy, Gov. Gregoire Signs Off On Efforts To
Lure Airbus
Washington Governor Christine Gregoire says she's 100-percent
behind an effort by three counties in her state to land a new
Airbus plant that will produce aerial refueling tankers for the US
Air Force -- if Airbus gets the contract.
As Airbus and Boeing continue to bicker over government
subsidies in their commercial businesses -- a fight that could well
end up in a World Trade Organization court -- the two companies
continue to fight for the USAF contract to build the next aerial
refueling tanker. To that end, Airbus is trying to woo the US
government by promising to build the plane in this country rather
than in Europe.
Arizona wants a piece of that action.
An MQ-1 Predator Unmanned Aerial Vehicle crashed in Rawah, Iraq,
at about 7 p.m. on March 30, officials said. The Predator is the
second one to crash, in Iraq, this week.
