Honeywell Chosen for Lockheed/Sikorsky Project

HTS7500 Turboshaft Engine Selected for Military Helicopter Program

Honeywell has gained some recognition with the selection of its newest turboshaft engine program, the HTS7500. The engine will power a joint Lockheed Martin Sikorsky-Boeing program developing the DEFIANT X helicopter in the running for the U.S. Army's Future Long-Range Assault Aircraft competition.If selected, the Defiant will be the fastest assault helicopter in Army inventory, besting the Black Hawk in range and speed. The HTS7500 boasts over 7,000 shaft horsepower, a substantial improvement over its military helicopter predecessor, the T55.

The T-45 team at Naval Air Systems Command delivered the first Automatic Dependent Surveillance – Broadcast (ADS-B) (Out)-compliant aircraft in January to Training Squadron (VT) 86 in Pensacola, Florida, to meet a new Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) requirement.
