Last Of Five Tanker-Transports Ordered By The Australian Air Force
The fifth and final new generation A330 MRTT multi-role tanker transport ordered by the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) has been delivered by Airbus Military. The handover of the aircraft marks a major milestone for the A330 MRTT program.
The F-35 integrated test force at Naval Air Station Patuxent River completed a weapons ejection milestone for the Lightning II carrier variant on Nov. 28. CF-2, the second F-35C test aircraft, ejected a 2,000-pound inert GBU-31 Joint Direct Attack Munition (JDAM) and a 500-pound GBU-12 Paveway II Laser Guided Bomb from an internal weapons bay into a foam-covered concrete pit.
Stealth Technology UAS Demonstrator To Undergo Testing Until 2014
The nEUROn, Europe’s unmanned combat air vehicle (UCAV) stealth technology demonstrator, successfully completed its maiden flight from the Dassault Aviation company’s flight test base in Istres, in collaboration with the flight test personnel of the French defense procurement agency (DGA), on December 1st.
Other Option Is Extending The Life Of The Kiowa Warrior
Army officials are reportedly backing a plan to replace the long-serving OH-58 Kiowa Warrior scout helicopter, rather than try to extend the life of the existing aircraft which first flew during the Vietnam era. If a new aircraft is pursued, it will be the Army's third attempt to procure a replacement.
