AgustaWestland on Wednesday announced that the Philippine Air Force has signed a contract for eight AW109 Power light twin helicopters. These aircraft will be used to perform a range of duties including homeland security, armed reconnaissance and close support. Deliveries will start in 2014.
AeroVironment Receives Concept Definition Contract For TERN MALE Unmanned Aircraft System Program
The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) has selected AeroVironment for the development of a new category of UAV technology. AeroVironment will work as the prime contractor with DARPA on the Tactically Exploited Reconnaissance Node (TERN) Program to develop a medium-altitude, long-endurance (MALE) UAS designed to operate from small ships to provide persistent intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) capabilities.
Combines Horsham Facility Into Burgess Hill Operation
Rockwell Collins has unveiled a new simulation and training center of excellence in Burgess Hill, West Sussex, U.K. The company combined its operation located in Horsham, U.K., a facility gained through the acquisition of Evans & Sutherland in 2006, into its Burgess Hill facility, a facility added with the acquisition of SEOS in 2008.
