San Remo Registered Global Express Seized in Zambia

Passengers Jailed; Zambian Government Impugned

On the afternoon of Sunday, 13 August 2023, a Bombardier Global Express, San Remo registration T7-WW, departed Cairo, Egypt, crossed the African interior, and landed at Zambia’s Kenneth Kaunda International Airport in the Zambian capital city of Lusaka. On Tuesday, 15 August, Egyptian news-outlets broke reports setting forth Zambian authorities had seized the aircraft, aboard which they allegedly discovered approximately $5.7-million (USD), 602 “suspected” gold bars massing some 127-kilograms (280-pounds), five firearms described as “pistols,” and 126-rounds of ammunition.

Belgium Proposes Taxation of Aviation Fuel-Airline Tickets

Seeking, ostensibly, to address environmental impact, Belgian authorities are making ready to propose a European aviation tax on fuel and airline tickets. According E.U. news-outlets, the move, put forward during a meeting of the European Union’s Parliament, aims for what its authors call “fair pricing of air travel’s ecological effects.” A similar proposal was formerly introduced by the Netherlands. The Belgian initiative is set to be discussed during an upcoming meeting of the E.U.’s Council of Environment Ministers.

Sportys has shown off tis new aviator workstation in the form of a lap-bound ‘organizer’ offering a stiff metallic 9”x8” surface. The “Metal Bi-Fold Lap Desk” allows pilots and pax to put that open thigh space to use with a folding, knee-mounted workplace for charts, notes, and devices. The lap desk features a clamp on the right side for keeping maps and papers in position during the flight, with the powder-coated steel board allowing the use of placement magnets anywhere else.
