President Obama Signs Pilot's Bill Of Rights

Measure Easily Passed Both Houses Of Congress Earlier This Year

U.S. Sen. Jim Inhofe (R-OK), a member of the Senate General Aviation Caucus and certified flight instructor, said Friday that his Pilot's Bill of Rights (S.1335) has been officially signed into law. Inhofe has worked to pass the legislation for the past year. In the Senate where the bill enjoyed co-sponsorship by 65 other Senators, the measure passed by unanimous consent in June. The House passed the measure by a voice vote.

Five Receive Master Instructor Designation In July

National Accreditation Recognized By The FAA

Five CFIs completed Master Instructors course to receive the prestigious designation in the month of June. The title has been eared by fewer than 700 of the 91,000 CFIs currently active in the country. The last 17 National Flight Instructors of the Year were Master CFIs. In addition, the FAA has approved the accreditation as an alternate means for CFIs to renew their flight instructor certificates.

AFGE, TSA Agree To Labor Contract

No Details Of The Agreement Were Immediately Available

The American Federation of Government Employees announced early today that it has reached an agreement with the Transportation Security Administration on the first-ever labor contract for the nation's TSA officers. No details of the agreement were immediately released.
